A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party- PDP, in Oruk Anam Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Akpabong Moffat UdoEkpo, has predicted a landslide victory for Governor Udom Emmanuel, ahead of the March 2, 2019 gubernatorial election in the state.

Obong UdoEkpo who is a grassroots mobilizer and a strong supporter of Governor Udom’s second term bid, made this known at a get-together he organized for Ikot Akpan Eda Support Group for Udom Emmanuel, a socio-political organisation he launched since 2014 for the support of good governance in Akwa Ibom.

The event which was highly attended brought together political heavyweights in the area, traditional fathers, the clergy, youth and the women group, who declared their unflinching loyalty and total support for the second term bid of Governor Emmanuel. They described the performance of the governor in the last over 3 years as unprecedented especially with the establishment of 15 industries and the prompt payment of salaries.

Speaking with Journalists, the respected PDP stalwart said, he was not only putting the group together to drum support for the governor, he made sure every member of the group registered and collected their Permanent Voter Cards PVC, to ensure they could cast their votes to re-elect Governor Udom Emmanuel.

UdoEkpo said: “The people you are seeing here today, I mean every member of Ikot Akpan Eda Support Group for Udom Emmanuel, have gotten their PVCs. We don’t just come out here to make noise and shout ‘vote Udom; vote Udom’, we make sure that as a member of this group, you have you PVC which qualifies you to vote.

“The aim of this group is simply to support good and quality leadership. Governor Udom Emmanuel has exhibited these qualities and therefore deserves our support and votes. We have already started door to door campaigns in all the units of Oruk Anam. The people are very excited about the impact of the governor in the area. And come March 2nd, we will all file out to cast our votes to the right man, Udom Emmanuel.

Obong UdoEkpo stressed that Governor Emmanuel has performed exceedingly well, especially in the area of industrialization, education, agriculture, infrastructure as well as human and manpower development. He said with these achievements, the people have no reason not to return the governor. He charged the people to ensure that all PDP candidates for the election from the President to House of Assembly are duly voted for.

Speaking at the occasion, Engr. Nsikan Titus Peter, thanked the people for the large turn-out, even at a very short notice. He warned that the people should be vigilant and weary of enemies of the state, who are going round purchasing PVCs.

He said their intentions are not genuine rather they are out to cause confusion during election, and throw the state into chaos and scuttle the peace currently being enjoyed in the state. He advised the people to go out on February 16 to vote for PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubarka, and on March 2nd, they all go out and return Governor Udom Emmanuel.

Also speaking was a former Ward Chairman and member of the group, Hon. Ndiana Bassey. Hon. Bassey thanked Obong UdoEkpo for convening the meeting and thanked the people of the area for showing sincere support for Governor Emmanuel.

He said: “This is the very first time in recent years that someone who is not a government appointee would come out and provide genuine political leadership and ensure that unit 12 which is very strategic in Ekparakwa, is carried along. We want to assure you that we in this unit will vote massively for Governor Udom Emmanuel and all other candidates of the PDP.

The get together saw the inauguration of Engr. Peter as the coordinator of sensitization and mobilization, whose responsibility is to ensure the people of the unit are properly informed and sensitized on the process and development leading to the elections, and educate the people on how to cast their votes during elections.
