HOUSES UNDER HIGH TENSIONS FOR DEMOLITION...AS GOV EMMANUEL COMMISSIONS MORE ROADS IN EKET

Akwa Ibom state Government has approved compensation for those whose houses are under the high tension cables, even as residents are urged to relocate so that demolition would soon commence.

Governor Udom Emmanuel announced this during a facility tour of Eket for inspection and inauguration of projects embarked upon by his administration in the area.

The state Governor also assured those whose properties are affected by the urban renewal of prompt payment of their compensations.

He said he is not shortchanging any person but relies on the costs submitted by the estate valuers and urged those who have genuine person complaints to reach out to the local government chairman for fair attention.

Governor Emmanuel appealed to those who have instituted legal suits at the law courts over the demolition of their properties to seek an alternative to resolve the disputes rather than hinder the pace of work in their domain.

The Governor who was conducted around the road projects and the drainages by the Commissioner for Works, Mr Ephraim Inyang-Eyen expressed satisfaction with the pace of work.

Governor Emmanuel while inspecting the drainage at the Atabong road project site, explained to the people that deep tunnels are buried underground to facilitate easy flow of running water and the sewage system.

This he said accounts for the delay, assuring that the road projects would be completed soon as the drainages are done to control the flood menace in the area .

He commended the contractors handling the various projects and the supervising ministry for their commitment to deliver according to specification.

Governor Emmanuel also charged the people to keep the drainages neat and avoid indiscriminate dumping of refuse to avoid blocking the water channels and commended the people especially the youths for their contribution to the development of the area.

Roads inaugurated by the Governor include: 1.0km Edem Udo Street, Ikot Udota-Heritage Polytechnic Road Eket, and Ikot Odiong-Ikot Abasi roads.

The Commissioner for works, Mr Ephraim Inyang-Eyen had informed the Governor that 18 internal roads were approved for intervention and so far 8 were ready for inauguration with Side drains.
