AKPABIO SEEKS AUDIENCE WITH CHRIS EKPENYONG

Confirming that his second term ambition to the Senate may meet a brick wall, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio have sought audience with his main challenger Obong Chris Ekpenyong of the PDP.

Akpabio, it was learnt has realized lately that Ekpenyong's agreement with Abak Federal Constituency to do one term and the insistence of Ikono/Ini Federal constituency to shut down votes on Akpabio ahead of the February Election.

Ikono/Ini People insist that Akpabio was not fair to them as a Governor even as they also argue that the attempts to recall and embarrass one of their sons Aloysius Etok was masterminded by Akpabio and fueled by Nse Ntuen.

"Even though all of them have found themselves in the APC today, we had an underlying understanding to also throw spanners into their political works. And this 2019 Senate Election will afford us the chance to do so", an APC member from Ikono informed THE INK in Ikot Ekpene last night.

Chris Ekpenyong handlers have however confirmed to reporters that his Principal have received correspondences from Godswill Akpabio seeking for audience related to the Senate Election.

Information has it that Akpabio is afraid, with the way things are going, he may missed out of the next Senate.

"The corresponding we are getting from Akpabio ranges from Chiefs, Clergymen and some highly respected Annang Sons." Our source disclosed.

Asked what the position from Ekpenyong is, correspondents were informed that the Ex Deputy Governor says he won't negotiate anything with Akpabio.

THE INK can report authoritatively that Abak five especially feels that if Akpabio is not stopped now, it will be hard for him to be removed from the Senate in 2023.

They believe that a Chris Ekpenyong in the Senate from 2019, will grant easy access to Abak five in 2023.

Akpabio's media handlers who spoke to our reporters admitted that the Ex Governor reaching out to Chris Ekpenyong is part of politics. And that Akpabio deserves a sweet victory and if meeting Ekpenyong and making him stand down his ambition is part of the factors that will give Akpabio sweet victory, then, such strategy must be applied, he retorted.

Akpabio's man however said, for now Ekpenyong is grandstanding but that the Ex Deputy Governor will have to listen to the many emissaries that have been sent to him and see reasons why he should suspend his Senate ambition to Akpabio.

However, one of Chris Ekpenyong's campaign Director said, "if Akpabio is waiting for Chris Ekpenyong to stand down, then the Ex Senate Minority leader has run into a stalemate."
